Description
Man-made 'cave temples' (rock-cut chamber used for religious purposes) reported ABBOT, J E (1891) and COUSENS, H (1891) from Nadsur (note 1), which is said to lie somewhere south-west of Karla (Karle, Karli) and then within the obsolete »Bhor State, Bombay Presidency« but now in Pune (Puna, ex- Poona) district. IDENTITY: Since these »Nadsur Caves« are said to lie south-west of Karli (N18°45': E073°29') they may be identical with the rock-cut chambers at –>Bedsa and –>Bhaja.
NOTE 1: Nadsur is neither listed on nima.mil/geonames (accessed 16.11.2003) nor in IMPERIAL GAZETTEER (1907-1909, 25: 396) or in the India Road Atlas (Eicher Goodearth 2006 index).
