Description
Several descriptions
There is a cave full of bat not too large (probably the cave, not the bats) situated somewhere on Pir-e Paymal Ghar (Phil Paya Mahl Ghara), a hill about half an hour's car drive north of Kandahar. Aziz Ur Rehman Khilji (2000.10.23 Mss), possibly without having personally seen the cave or it's environs, writes of what he understood (literally quoted) as Phil Paya Mahl Ghara or, in adventurer's English, the Cave under the Elephant's Foot (note 1) at the suburb of Kandahar city on main road straight to the north west of the town two mountains named Philco Ghar [note 2] and Phil Paya Mahl Ghar [note 3] 1/2 hour journey from the centre of the city. CAVE LIFE: Since Aziz Ur Rehman Khilji (2000.10.23 Mss) says the cave is full of bat one is tempted to assume there is not one single, cave-filling bat but a colony of many bats (Chiroptera) in this cave, probably complete with bat guano.
