Tham Pha Cho - LA0048
18.902390,99.607211
Location
The wat is signed from the H1035 at the south end of the village of Ban Pha Cho. The wat is on top of a small limestone hill, just to the east of the road. In the grounds of the wat go past the new, large sala and the entrances to the cave are found a few metres beyond amonst the undergrowth and limestone blocks.
Description
The cave has at least three entrances. Two entrances at the top of the hill are shafts of about 5m depth. On the south side of the hill, near to the school, a small hole amongst boulders gives easier access into the cave. A wooden ladder leads down into a series of narrow rift passages with much guano (this is mined occasionally and the wat gets 75 baht per bag). From this cave it is reported that you can reach the larger chambers near the shaft entrances, but on a visit in June 2009 the monk doing the guiding couldn't remember the way on.
Histoire
The cave was partially explored by the SMCC in June 2009. 2009-06-26 (M. Ellis)
