ETYMOLOGY: So far, I saw this item called, spelled, edited or printed as Neravana gal lena, Kukul korale DERANIYAGALA, P E P (1953: 131)Neravana-Galge Brooks (1995 Mss, item no. 21) SITUATION 1953: DERANIYAGALA (1953: 131) seems to locate this -lena- (cave) registered as Neravana gal lena, Kukul korale somewhere on the -gala- (rock) known as Neravana gal (note 1) in the administrative subdivision Kukul korale (note 2). SITUATION 1995: Brooks (1995 Mss, no. 21) locates Neravana-Galge close to the village of Kukulegama and the village of Lenama in the semi arid lowlands to the south east of Ratnapura (note 3). CAVE DESCRIPTION: Brooks (1995 Mss, no. 21): A small cave or possibly two caves … formed in Gneiss [sic!] and similar to Batadombe-Lena (sic! qua: Batadomba Lea). EXPLORATION HISTORY: 1945: Paulus Edward Pieries Deraniyagala undertook an archaeoligical investigation and recovered a pitted celt (DERANIYAGALA, S U 1980: 173) or stone artifacts similar to those found at Batadomba-Lena Cave.
