Description
A sacred Brahmagiri Guha of dubious nature is said to contain images (paintings? or sculptures?) of a red bull (Erreddaiah), a white bull (Passeddaiah), and a cow (note 1). SITUATION: Dappepalle (note 2). CULTURAL HISTORY - religious folklore: It is believed that two bulls in the past exhibited supernatural powers in the village and because of this they had been deified along with their mother in the cave. Here is celebrated the Avu Devata festival for three days in the month of Jyestha for rain. During the festival umbrellas of different varieties and peacock feathers are offered to the deity in fulfillment of vows.
