UMANANDA ISLAND (Cave on)
26.195800,91.744400
Description
The visible entrance with unidentified dimensions and unspecified orientation, which seems to give access to a partly daylight-lit talus cave under a single, dislocated boulder, is shown on a photograph without scale (Lindenmayr, F circa 2015.02.11 undated Mss -Meghalaya 2015- peacock island1.jpg). ETYMOLOGY: No autochthonous, indigenous or locally known name has been identified for what was just about mentioned (in German language) as -the rocky chamber which exists there- or die felsige Kammer, die es dort gibt (Lindenmayr, F circa 2015.02.11 undated Mss). SITUATION: In an unidentified setting and not only in an unspecified location but also in an unidentified spatial relation to the Umananda temple on the Umananda Island (also: Bhasmachal, Peacock Island) in the river Brahmaputra flowing through the city of Gauhati (Guwahati 26°11'N: 91°44'E). APPROACH: Franz Lindenmayr, from Munic in Bavaria, suggested that one may possibly find the rocky chamber by looking around the island (ote 1).CAVE DESCRIPTION: On one day in January 2015 the interior of the cave contained no identified dimensions but was empty (note 2). CULTURAL HISTORY: Somehow associated with this rocky chamber are apparently indescribable -solitary depressions-, which were interpreted to -still show evidence that someone once had been active there for some reason- (note 3).Heute ist sie leer, aber einzelne Vertiefungen zeugen noch davon, daß man dort einmal für irgendwelche Zwecke aktiv gewesen ist.ote 1).CAVE DESCRIPTION: On one day in January 2015 the interior of the cave contained no identified dimensions but was empty (note 2).
