Description
The unidentified entrance to a cave, which was said to be locally known as Krem Mawkhyrdop, is reputed to exist at a location somewhere down (or so) from the –>Mawsmai Cave (Caldi Khongsit, Sohra, 1997.03.17 personal communication). ETYMOLOGY: -ka khyrdop- (Khasi, noun) has been translated as gate (SINGH, N 1906: 39; SINGH, N 1920: 199; BLAH, E 2007: 115), port (SINGH, N 1920: 389), portal (SINGH, N 1906: 39), and threshold (SINGH, N 1920: 527). SITUATION: Not known. Perhaps on the hill sacred to U Mawlong Syiem.
