Pawee Lower Cave (Tham)

Location
The cave is situated south of Halkham village about 75 minutes by boat upstream on the Nam Ou River from Ngoy Nua and is located in an isolated limestone cone immediately on the southern shore of the Nam Ou River. The limestone cone is very easy to recognise due to the fact that the Nam Ou leaves its gorge north of Sop Chem village to enter an area of jungle-covered smooth hills of generally non-calcareous rocks. The entrance to the lower Tham Pawee is to the left hand side from the upper cave, where a small streamlet emerges into the Nam Ou River [5158] Map sheet: F48-110 Methode: from map

Cave description: ? Citation: Analysis: [5158]: The low entrance gives access to a muddy chamber that ends at a 5 m long crawl. This leads into the active streamway passage of lower Tham Pawee, which is a well-sized meandering rift (3 m wide and 10-15 m high). The water emerges from a narrow crack that soon becomes impenetrable.
