Description
The road from Jammu (note 1) north-east to Udhampur (note 2) passes through what De TERRA (1940: 165) described as the ice-cold Nandni Tunnel (note 3) in the meat-coloured Siwalik foothills leading into the midday heat of the plains (note 4).
