Description
A man-made (excavated), daylight-lit monolithic pit temple (note 1) in Dravidian style, excavated in the open air, is situated at a place called Wasvi (not identified) on the banks of Karam river in Dhar district (note 2), Madhya Pradesh. Located by Shri G.T. Shende of the Archaeological Survey of India (DESHPANDE 1992: 5, figure 10).
NOTE 1: This sort of "pyramid" towers above a 'garbha griha' (holiest / sanctum sanctorum), a tiny cell regarded by Hindus as a "cave" housing the god and symbolizing the universe in a nut shell.
