Description
The noise of flowing water issues from gaps between dislocated boulders without apparent access to what is possibly a yet inaccessible stream cave. Compare: Krem –>Symptung. ETYMOLOGY: The Khasi "u shymbrong" is »a prawn, a shrimp« (SINGH, N 1906: 201), Zoologically: Crustacea, conf. Palaemonidae.SITUATION: On the road from Pynursla (N25°18'30”: E092°54' WGS84) to Dauki (25°11'10”N: 92°01'20”E) and on the south side of a hill, which has been marked (November 1998) with a limestone quarry. The cave entrance to Krem Shymbrong (±25 m 25°14'45”N: 91°57'26”E) lies about 365 m in a direct line approximately east of Krem Symptung (±25 m 25°14'44”N: 91°57'13”E) and about 850 m in a direct line approximately south-east (700 m south, 475 m east) from the village of Pongtung (25°15'08”N: 91°57'09”).
