Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018

Neither a cave nor a cave entrance but an open gully (Stead 2008.02.07 Mss: Not known - Area known as Syoi), which needs a ladder to be visited. So far, this open gully suffered not only being bettered into two open cracks (Stead 2008.02.07 Mss: Reconnaissance Record) but also was even more bettered into a pot hole, unexplored (anonymous Brooks, S J undated Mss amendment to Stead, J 2008.02.07 Mss: Cave Record). SITUATION (note 1): Stead, J (2008.02.07 Mss: Not known - Area known as Syoi) commands to see sheet 6 but this is problematic insofar as it does not exist or has been successfully lost. APPROACH: Stead, J (2008.02.07 Mss: Reconnaissance Record): From number 5 (GPS 1) cross over Shale track (right to left [without orientation], heading back toward Shnongrim. 10 m [in an unidentified direction] from the track it slopes down towards the head of a valley [with unidentified name].Take a right hand track [without orientation] into the undergrowth. There is a lot of lantana [note 2] n the edge. About 8 m down a brumble / lantana path there are two open cracks … Area still known as Syoi (note 3). GULLY DESCRIPTION: Stead, J (2008.02.07 Mss: Not known - Area known as Syoi): Depth: 5/8m [note 4] … Open gully, 1 m wide maxi, approx. 5 m deep. Natural belays. CRACKS DESCRIPTION: Stead, J (2008.02.07 Mss: Reconnaissance Record): Two open cracks about 2 metres apart, approx. 4 m in length and approx. 5 m deep.Neither a cave nor a cave entrance but an open gully (Stead 2008.02.07 Mss: Not known - Area known as Syoi), which needs a ladder to be visited.
