An unidentified number of unspecified baoris (LONELY PLANET, India 2005: 198-199) or water storage facilities (LONELY PLANET, India 1997: 657; LONELY PLANET, North India 2001: 734), which either may consist of stepwells leading underground or of daylight-lit water reservoirs in the open air, are situated at Kumbhalgarh (note 1), about 84 km north along the road from Udaipur (N24°35': E073°41'). FORT DESCRIPTION 1997: Kumbhalgarh … It's a secluded place, built by Maharana Kumbha in the 15th century and, owing to its inaccessibility on top of the Arvalli range at 1100 m, it was taken only once in its history. … The wall of the fort stretch 36 km and enclose many temples, palaces, gardens and water storage facilities.
