CHIBE CAVE 1

Description
A joint controlled cave and spring of water (exsurgence), which also emits a comparatively »strong draught« (air current without comparison for scale) that may enter or exit the human-sized part of the cave through many very small crevices that probably connect to the surface. Prospects for extension appear to be very limited. ETYMOLOGY: No locally known cave name has been identified for this cave on the banks of the Chibe River. SITUATION: At an inadequately described location somewhere on the left (eastern) bank of the Chibe, and very close to where a path from one of the villages of Siju comes down to river. CAVE CLIMATE: Christopher M. Smart, Antony 'Tony' Boycott and Surajit Roy noticed at an unspecified hour on 8th December 1995 a »strong draught« (air current) without known flow direction. CAVE LIFE: Big frogs (Anura), spiders (Aranea: Arachnida), crickets (Orthoptera) and one bat (Chiroptera), which, judging from its size and the fact that its wings were tightly wrapped around its body, was probably a Greater Eastern Horseshoe Bat (Rhinolophus luctus).
