DALIPUR CAVE OR SPRING

Description
A certain »cave or spring« (note 1) reported Egerton (1946.04.16 Mss) from »just on the slope of village Dalipur (B.S.) valley. It is situated about 1.5 mls [2.4 km or so] NW of Dalipur, shown in topographical sheet 5u 5/3 near G.T.S. Dalipur.« ETYMOLOGY: »B.S.« (Egerton 1946.04.16 Mss) seems to stand for the obsolete Bijawar State, now part of Chhatarpur district (Madhya Pradesh). »G.T.S.« (Egerton 1946.04.16 Mss) translates into »Great Trigonometrical Survey« and means a survey station, generally at an exposed location of a hill. »5u 5/3« (Egerton 1946.04.16 Mss) makes no sense to me unless it is a very unexpected misprint for Survey of India sheet 54 P S.E. (Half-Inch series, circa 1: 126,720). SITUATION: Probably somewhere on Survey of India sheet 54-P/3 (not seen by me) though I cannot trace down a »village Dalipur« or a »Dalipur valley« (note 2). All I found is a »Dalipur P F« (protected forest), or rather it's most eastern corner (near N24°25': E079°15' Everest 1830) on the Survey of India sheet 54-P/7 (1977 edition).
NOTE 1: chhatarpur.nic.in/resources.htm#Bijawar (accessed 27.12.2004) lists one »Dalipur: Pond« (without further details) among the »resources« of Chhatarpur district. NOTE 2: »Dalipur« (Egerton 1946.04.16 Mss) is not identified as it is neither listed on nima.mil/geonames (accessed 16.11.2003) or in IMPERIAL GAZETTEER (1907-1909, 11: 126, 25: 14) and in the India Road Atlas (Eicher Goodearth 2006 index). There is a »Dalippur« in the India Road Atlas (Eicher Goodearth 2006: 41 F4) but this lies in Bihar (Bhojpur district) about halway between Jagdishpur (N25°29': E084°25') in the north and Piro (N25°20': E084°25') in the south.
