NOTE 1: Lalanti 4420 m (www.himadventures.net accessed 25.08.2004).»Lalanti has a basic pilgrim shelter, which is too dank and dirty to use. We pitch tent and doze in the sun for a couple of hours. We can sense, we are very near the La (pass) as the valley has broadened, and the jagged, snow-laden peaks watch over us, silent and brooding. There is hardly a sound here, but for the angry sound of the nallah a few hundred feet away« (www.indiatravelogue.com accessed 25.08.2004). NOTE 2: »Lalanti is a high altitude shepherd pastures and snow leopard is also seen here in winters. This area is also famous for Ibex. Walking though impressive terminal moraine, negotiating 200 m of steep climb to pass from where spectacular view of Gharwal and Sangla Valley is seen. Unspecified »caves« (more likely: one or several rock shelters) reported GERNER (1976, 1984) and Eisner, Uwe (1983 Mss) from a place called Lalanti (note 1). They are possibly -- but far from necessarily -- identical with the caves on the –>Tidung noticed in July 1821 by Alexander and James Gilbert Gerard (edited by COLEBROOKE 1827: 353). SITUATION 1 (note 2): Between Charang (note 3) at 3350 m asl (with –>Lahesh Cave) and Chitkal / Chitkul (note 4). SITUATION 2 (note 5): Between the pass Indrahara / Charang La (note 6) and Surting (note 7) on the popular trek from Dharamsala (note 8) via Indrahar / Indrahara Pass (4300 m asl) to Bharmaur (note 9) Trek.
