SHALAGHAT, Solan (Cave at)

According to professional bat watchers (zoologists) there is a narrow cave Shalaghat in Solan District (SAIKIA, U et al. 2011: 1643). SITUATION: Unknown (SAIKIA, U et al. 2011: 1643). POSITION: Shalaghat 31°11'N: 76°59'E (SAIKIA, U et al. 2011: 1655). The position (unspecified precision error ±5000 m) Shalaghat 31°11'N: 76°59'E (SAIKIA, U et al. 2011: 1655) indicates rather an area, region or vicinity than a spot that lies roughly33 km NNW from Solan 30°54'N: 77°05'E (SAIKIA, U et al. 2011: 1655) and 20 km WNW from Shimla 31°06'N: 77°10'E (SAIKIA, U et al. 2011: 1655). CAVE LIFE: Chiroptera, Rhinolophidae, Rhinolophus luctus (Temminck 1835), the wooly horseshoe bat: One solitary individual was observed hanging from the wall of a narrow cave at Shalaghat in Solan District. … Pelage of the collected specimens was distinctively long, woolly and dark brown throughout (SAIKIA, U et al. 2011: 1643).
