Description
NOTE 1: Indian Archaeology: A Review [IAR] (1961-1962: 102); ROCK ART OF INDIA (1984); SUNDARA, A (1984: 137). NOTE 2: »Chick« (IAR 1961-1962) is not identified. NOTE 3: »Rampura« (IAR 1961-1962) is not identified. NOTE 4: »Chikrampura« (IAR 1961-1962) seems to be a contraction of »Chik« and »Rampur.« NOTE 5: Anaigondhi, Anegundi or Anegondi, the »Annagundi, suburb of Bijanugger on the north bank of the Tumbuddra« (Tungabhadra River) of NEWBOLD, T J (1845c: 518-519) lies north-west of Hampi (Hampe) in Raichur (Raijur) district. Some believe Anegondi is the Kishkindha of the Ramayana (vikraman.com/MaruthiPramanam.htm accessed 2002.10.15).
One of the rock shelters with paintings (rock art) in red ochre, which A. Sundara (note 1) discovered at an unspecified location somewhere between places called »Chik« (note 2) and »Rampura« (note 3) or at »Chikrampur« (note 4) in the Anegondi area (note 5).
