ADONI CAVE (Francis 1904), 1st (aa -)

One of the unspecified natural caves in the bouldary hills around Basarakodu [note 1], 6 miles [about 10 km] ESE of Adoni (note 2) is said to lie one mile (one or two kilometres) along the Adoni road (CRAVEN, S A 1969: 25 after FRANCIS, W 1904). ETYMOLOGY: About a kilometre in a direct line due west of Basarakodu (N15°35'16”: E077°22'05” Everest 1830), Survey of India sheet 57-E/06 (edition 1978) indicates Salakalakonda (rock + black / dark + hill).
