Description
A cave with two chambers, reputed to house many bats and to be 20 m long, is situated at an unknown distance south (more likely: approximately south-west) of Johan (N29°20': E66°58') on a route towards Kalat (N29°02': E66°35') in a so-called Taratak area (note 1). Starting from the remote and unidentified Levi Post andvillage of Gazak (note 2), the cave lies at a distance of approximately five walking hours (5 to 40 km along the route) east, much of the walk being in water (river). This is reputed to be the best / only approach. The cave entrance lies adjacent to an unidentified the river (no name mentioned) and about 12 m above it. CAVE DESCRIPTION as communicated by one Shen Bage (or so), a levy man from Gazak, who has seen the cave: A camel sized entrance [about 1.07 m wide and 1.43 to 2.39 m high] lies across the stream / river [no name identified]. This gives access to a chamber (16 by 7 by 12 m large). From the far side of this chamber a high passage (1.2 m wide and 2 m igh) leads to a 2nd chamber (3 by 3 by 4 m large). CULTURAL HISTORY - Human use (Brooks, S J 2000.10.15 Mss): The bat droppings [bat guano] are collected for fertilizer.
