Description
An unspecified cave entrance (unidentified dimensions, unidentified orientation, unidentified characteristics) was found to give access to a sinkhole (Anonymous [Arbenz T, Brooks S J et al.] 2015.04.03 Mss: Diary 2015.docx 7th February 2015 Saturday). ETYMOLOGY: The origin, history and meaning of the strange cave name Krem Mawchut (Anonymous 2015.04.03 Mss: Diary 2015.docx) is lost to expedition cavers but seems to combine -u maw- (standard Khasi) or -moo- (Synteng Khasi / Pnar) stone (note 1) either with -ki kjat- feet, -ka 'jat- foot, leg (note 2) or -jhad, jhaj, jhat- sail, ship (note 3). SITUATION: Unknown. Somewhere in the vicinity of what had been in February 2015 a Mooriap Police Outpost (with an unidentified GPS position) and on the one-hand side in an unspecified setting and at an unidentified location but on the other hand at a spot with unidentified spatial relations to each and every known cave entrance in the vicinity of the Mooriap Police Outpost (note 4). CAVE DESCRIPION: Krem Mawchut 1 … is a sinkhole … and went down 40 m. The cave continues in a small drop but may become too narrow soon. However, there is a bit of inward draught (Anonymous 2015.04.03 Mss: Diary 2015.docx 7th February 2015 Saturday). CAVE CLIMATE: An expedition augur (note 5) noticed at an unspecified time on 7th February 2015 in a confined space an air current which ended up as a bit of inward draught (Anonymous [Arbenz T, Brooks S J et al.] 2015.04.03 Mss: Diary 2015.docx 7th February 2015 Saturday). An unspecified cave entrance (unidentified dimensions, unidentified orientation, unidentified characteristics) was found to give access to a sinkhole (Anonymous [Arbenz T, Brooks S J et al.] 2015.04.03 Mss: Diary 2015.docx 7th February 2015 Saturday). EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2015.02.07: Daphyrnai Sariang from Umkyrpong (or, perhaps, from Mooriap), then acting as a so-called local guide (caving instructor), walked Richa Jain, Peter Ludwig and Cdr. Vijay Chhikara from a camp, in which expedition cavers were kept outside of Umkyrpong (25°26'04”N: 92°34'48”E), to cave entrances in the vicinity of a certain Mooriap Police Outpost (unidentified GPS position). On this occasion, the team went to Krem Mawchut 1 which is a sinkhole where Peter Ludwig went down 40 m needing just one rebelay (Anonymous [Arbenz T, Brooks S J et al.] 2015.04.03 Mss: Diary 2015.docx 7th February 2015 Saturday) and climbed in the same year and, for that matter, on the very same day also out of the sinkhole (pothole).
