An open shaft characterised by 2.5 m x 1.5 m dimensions of shaft at top estimated Glanvill (2008.02.22 Mss: Shaft Un-Named) to be about 30 m deep and to consist of a dry shaft, [deleted: filled with] surrounded by mud and foliage. IDENTITY: Possibly the same as –>AA Cave (Whitaker 2008) but positioned at another GPS waypoint. ETYMOLOGY: The Khasi verb -sah- means to remain, to lag or stay behind; to ellbow, to strike, to ram (SINGH, N 1906: 180) and the Khasi (ex Hindi) -hati- is an elephant (SINGH, N 1906: 81). SITUATION: In what was in February 2008 a bamboo grove (Glanvill 2008.02.22 Mss: Shaft Un-Named). POSITION: According to Glanvill (2008.02.22 Mss: Shaft Un-Named), at the above GPS about 8 m of site (note 1). According to Whitaker (2008.02.22 Mss: Reconnaissance), about 140 m in a direct line approximately SSE (-123.7 m north, 67.2 m east) from –>AA CAVE SAH HATI (Whitaker 2008) but 41 m higher up. TACKLE: In addition to much needed observation power combined with pencil, pape and a range of measuring devices, Glanvill (2008.02.22 Mss: Shaft Un-Named) suggests you'll probably require [deleted: 30+m] 40 m + rope, maions [sic! qua: screw lock carabiners of the Maillon© brand or kind], slings etc… PROSPECTS: Simon J. Brooks (undated Mss amendment) betters Glanvill (2008.02.22 Mss: Shaft Un-Named) with adding Good.
