Description
Another »blebby cave« (sic!) like the –>Akoldih Blebby Cave and the –>Bardih Blebby Cave is said to exist somewhere in the vicinity of one of the places called Bhatgaon (note 1) in Raipur district, where »… groundwater occurs … along interconnected grikes [rift cave passages?] and clints [note 2]. The cavities are then in the form of blebs, often pinching and swelling, with an individual bleb [sic!] as long as 6 m in lateral extension and 3 m in vertical extend« (ADYALKAR & PHADTARE 1972: 385).
NOTE 1: Among the many populated places called Bhatgaon there is Bhatgaon N21°09': E081°42' (nima.mil/geonames accessed 16.11.2003) with ancient ruins and a tank, about 12 km in a direct line approximately SSE of Raipur (N21°14': E081°38'). Bhatgaon N21°04': E081°38' (AMS sheet NF44-11 Raipur (U502 series 1960 edition) about 18.5 km in a direct line due south of Raipur (N21°14': E081°38'). NOTE 2: Grike, gryke: A vertical or subvertical fissure in a limestone pavement developed by dissolution along a joint; Synonym: Kluftkarren (MONROE 1970). Clints: Slabs of limestone, parallel to the bedding, forming a pavement; widened joints, or grikes, isolate individual clints (MONROE 1970).
