Description
A relatively spacious cave (SKINNER 1833, 2: 136) or inhabitable rock shelter. SITUATION: At an uphill walking distance from the temple and village of Barrehtee (note 1) in the valley of the Bhagirathi river but at an elevated position overlooking a certain Valley of Chinalli (note 2) and at a spot that seemed to have been cut on purpose near the summit of the mountain that bounded the plain: it [the camping place] was well sheltered; and beside it (which tempted us to fix there) fell a large body of water (SKINNER 1833, 2: 136). On the following day, Captain Skinner proceeded in a north-westerly direction (note 3). CAVE DESCRIPTION: A spacious cave, the mouth of which was [27th June 1828] overgrown by blackberries, ripe and tempting (SKINNER 1833, 2: 136).A relatively spacious cave (SKINNER 1833, 2: 136) or inhabitable rock shelter.
