Description
The so-called Hampi Cave of KOTRAIAH, C T M (note 1) is not a cave in the speleological sense of the word but a -guha- (innermost sanctuary) within the Hindu temple, an erected structure used for religious purposes dedicated to Uddana Virabhadra and situated in Krishnapura, a suburb of the ruined capital of Vijayanagar at the southern base of Hemakuta hill (circa 0.5 km in a direct line south of Hampi Bazaar).
