Description
A modfied natural or man-made troglodyte hermitage cavelet or rock shelter is situated at a location some 50 m above Grotte de –>Arutpal on the flanks of (the hill) –>Arunachala (Arunachala) or Tiruvannamalai. ETYMOLOGY: Radha is the name of the favourit mistress of the Hindu god Krishna when he lives incarnated as Gopala, a cowherd; "bhai" (literally: elder sister) is a title of respect, and "amma" is the Tamil word for mother. CAVE DESCRIPTION: LE SAUX (1978, 1980: 85-86) had visited and seen the site, which he does away with a single sentence evaluating the suitabilty for cave dwelling (note 1) and saying that this is a small cave where the head, when sitting, touches the ceiling (note 2).
