Description
There are rock caves (CEYLON TRAVELLER 1974: 251; 1983: 253) on Maharaksahela (Maha Raksha hela), the great Raksha's rock (note 1). APPROACH: Maharaksahela lies in the desolation of Bintenne (note 2) and is reached by walking towards –>Hamangala (N07°25': E081°35') and –>Mellagala (N07°25': E081°35'), but by walking further for about 4 km in a westerly direction around the base of the hills which rise for about 60 to 90 m from the plain.There are rock caves (CEYLON TRAVELLER 1974: 251; 1983: 253) on Maharaksahela (Maha Raksha hela), the great Raksha's rock (note 1).
