A sacred rock shelter (temple cave) with rock art is situated at a linear distance of 10 or 11 km west –>Pachmarhi in the Kajri area: The »Naghari Deo Shelters« are »very difficult to reach unless one camps at Kajri« (Glennie, E A circa 1948 s.a. Mss "Preliminary record" after GUIDE TO PACHMARHI 1936). CAVE DESCRIPTION 1980: »Nagduari Shelter« is a »cave formed by lateral corrosion« (VERMA & VENKATAKRISHNAN 1980). CAVE DESCRIPTION 1998: »Nagdwar, Chintamani & Chitrashala … are not only the most magnificent rock shelters but most religious places as well. Thousands of people visit these places during Nagpanchami every year. Just as the ascent to Dhupagarh [note 1] begins, a footpath bifurcates [note 2] for Kajri [note 3] … From Kajri people go to Nagdwar« where there is a 100 yards long gully with natural idol of Nagdev / Nagdeo. From here, the pilgrims proceed to »Chintamani and on the way visit Agam Dwar, Paschim Dwar and other dwars. These so-called dwars are huge formations of rock which are umbrella like in shape and can shelter thousands of people. Beautiful ancient coloured rock paintings are clear and most precious for archaeologists. Then there is again a halting place at Chintamani. Besides natural caves, the Mela Trust has constructed a tin-shade for the pilgrims. After Chintamani, one goes to Chitrashala [Chitrachala?], a mushroom like rock formation having many rock paintings … The distance is nearly 15 km from Katri and you have to walk on foot hence a guide and physical strength is necessary« (BANSAL, S C = circa 1998 s.a.).
