Description
GOSH, A K (1957: 13-14) places one of the rock art sites (rock shelters or caves), which John Cockburn visited in about 1880, somewhere near a certain »Kotwa« (note 1) and at a travelling distance of 22 km along the road from Mirzapur (25°09'N: 82°35'E) initially south across the Mirzapur Hills and later south-east to Robertsganj (24°42'N: 83°04'E).
NOTE 1: One village of »Kotwa (Bela)« (17 km along the road from Mirzapur) is shown near 24°59'55”N: 82°37'25”E: 180 m asl (Everest 1830) near the northern edge of Survey of India sheet 63-L/09 (edition 1973) and north-west of a height 221 m.
