Rock Shelter Cave

Location
What appeared to be just a rock shelter between Amboni Cave 7 A and 3 A located at 5°04'16,2" S - 039°2'25,1" E on the northern bank of the Mukulumuzi turned out to be a cave of 470 m of length.
Description
The large rock shelter with two entrances has two major continuations. Towards the NE a difficult 10 m high climb leads into an upper level that ends soon in breakdown. The main continuation leads to the NW into a network of rifts, tubes and keyhole passages on two levels. They are occasionally nearly blocked by calcite but widens behind the obstacles to lead into more rifts and two spacious chambers in the NE part of the cave. Especially the upper levels contain nice calcitic formations. Amboni Rock Shelter Cave shows evidence of all four tectonic structures mentioned above. It appears to be somewhat like a link between the caves in the eastern part of the investigation area (with SW-NE / SE-NW structures) and the N-S / E-W directed caves in the western part of the area. There are no noteworthy bat colonies in the Amboni Rock Shelter Cave.
