Location
Follow the road from Xiang Ngeun towards Muang Nan until large limestone mountains come near the road both from the south and north sides. Here the new village of Hoikong (not on map) was found during our visit in 2003/04. A dirt road leaves the main road from Hoikong and leads along the western escarpment of the southern limestone massif towards the south. After about 2 km of walking one passes the village of Ban Thongkhouang and proceeds in a southerly direction where a large karst resurgence with no access to a cave is passed. About 300 meters further south a path leading off to the left is reached which must be followed uphill until a small settlement (not on map) is reached. From here Tham Jiko is located in the forested limestone cliff to the southeast about 50 - 80 m above the plain. The entrance of Tham Jiko is formed along a rift and requires a short climb to enter [5158] Map sheet: E47-024 Methode: GPS
