Location

So-called "caves" (perhaps a tahkhana comprised of man-made rock chambers and tunnels used for secular purposes) were claimed to have been used as bombproof undergrounds by Osama Baba and his Mujahedin (note 1) of Al Qaida (Qaeda, Kaida) fame. SITUATION: Somewhere in the Kohe Sheik Hazrat (note 2), a hill south-east of the small town of Eslamdara (note 3), in Burka district, Baghlan province, PJ-42-15). LEVY & SCOTT CLARK (1998) place their "Koh-i Sheik Hazrat" in the adjacent Kunduz province (at the border to Tadjikistan). CULTURAL HISTORY - military folklore: LEVY & SCOTT CLARK (1998) report that the fabulous furry Osama Bin Laden had turned Koh-i Sheik Hazrat has been turned into a bomb-proof terrorist's headquarter beyond the reach of spy satellites. The anonymous THERE IS NO LEAD… (1998) tops the fable by narrating that Osama Bin Laden is believed to have moved to Islam Dara, »a warren of caves and stone barracks used by Afghans who fought against Soviet troops. Concealed in the crevices of Sheik Hazrat mountain, the base is protected by land mines and reachable only by a maze of foot paths.« Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 02/02/2016

NOTE 1: The mujahed (plural mujahedin) or jihadi is one who undertakes jihad (Arabic: endeavor, effort): War against obstacles which hinder the true believer to live a life in faith. NOTE 2: The Arabic (and Farsi / Persien, etc.) title "Hazrat" corresponds to 'Reverend', or 'Superior' (CROOKE, William, editior of Meer HASSAN ALI, B. [Mrs.] 1832 edited 1917 letter 7 note 19). The mountain range Kuh-e Hazrat-e Sheykh (Koh-e Sheik Hazrat, Kohe Sheik Hazrat, Koh-i Sheik Hazrat) is positioned at E061°32'23“ (nima.mil/geonames, accessed 23.10.2003) on AMS sheet NI41-14 but at N32°43'03“: E061°29'29“ (nima.mil/geonames accessed 23.10.2003) on AMS sheet NI41-13. NOTE 3: Eslamdara N36°11'09": E069°13'20" (nima.mil/geonames accessed 16.11.2003), on AIMS sheet PJ-42-15 or AMS sheet NJ42-15, is also found spelled Eslamda'a (nima.mil/ geonames accessed 2003.10.04), Eslamdara (AIMS 2002: PJ-42-15), Eslamdarreh (nima.mil/ geonames 2003.10.04) and Islam Dara (THERE IS NO LEAD… 1998). The US army's internet website globalsecurity.org/military/world/afghanistan/mili… (accessed 2003.08.21) classified the militia facility »Islam Dara, Sheikh Hazrat Mtns« as an "Command & Control" item positioned at XX°XX'N XX°XX'E (sic!).
