Description
A pair of matching stepwells is situated right in the centre of Bundi town and just outside the Chogan Gate to the old city (LONELY PLANET 1997: 640: 1999: 685; 2001: 580; 2003: 592; 2005: 181; LONELY PLANET, North India 2001: 711). ETYMOLOGY: Water-loving -naga- are mythical, serpent-like beings capable of changing into human form (LONELY PLANET, India 2005: 1110) and -sagar- is a lake, [water] reservoir (LONELY PLANET, India 2005: 1111).
