Description
Kach Gharra (Kach Cave) [is a] fine 35 m entrance pitch descents to a well [speleothem] decorated chamber beneath which is an impressive 70 m second pitch … christened Juniper Gulf by the Chiltan Adventurers … (BROOKS 2001a: 12; 2001b: 27-28; two monochrome photographs on pages 26 and 27). The flowsstone was only about 1/4ins. thick [two thirds of a centimetres] on top of a soft chalky type material and you had to be carefull where you walked as you could easily destroy the formations … (CHAMBERS in: BROOKS 2001c: 28). SITUATION (BROOKS 2001a: 12; 2001b: 27-28): On the Peil Ghar [note 1], or Elephant Mountain, … the inconspicuous entrance situated high on the flanks [note 2] of Kach Mountain [note 3]. PROSPECTS: With 350 m of passage and a depth of 127 m, Kach Gharra is Pakistan's deepest cave explored to date, and more significant, its location at the top of a 2000 m+ band of limestone gives a hint of the possible depth potential in this region. CAVE LIFE (CHAMBERS in: BROOKS 2001c 28): Crawling into one small bell like chamber, I found a small hole that had been dug out and asked Simon if it was a snake hole, but it was decided that it was probably some furry animal's home. 28): Crawling into one small bell like chamber, I found a small hole that had been dug out and asked Simon if it was a snake hole, but it was decided that it was probably some furry animal's home.
