History: - The gated cave has electric light. Parts of the roof in the entrance and in the far end section are artificially covered by concrete. Two Buddha statues, one at the cave’s entrance and one at its end, give evidence of the spiritual importance of Tham Phousi. The limestone on top of the hill is very weathered and well fractured, creating large boulders rather than massive rock. The cave is developed between these boulders and parts of the roof in the entrance and in the far end section are artificially covered by concrete. Some daylight also enters the cave. Two Buddha statues, one at the cave’s entrance and one at its end, give evidence of the spiritual importance of Tham Phousi. [8717]: p. 172 " Nachts steigt die Feuerschlange vom Hügel Phou Si herunter [...]Das riesige Ungetüm, dessen Kopf schon die Hauptallee zum Palast erreicht, während der Körper sich immer noch aus der auf der spitze des Hügels liegenden Höhle abzuwickeln scheint, vereinigt sich mit dem Schlangenweibchen. Dieses lebt in dem heiligen becken, das innerhalb der Palastmauern liegt. [...]jedes der Schulkinder von Luang Prabang trägt eine Laterne, und so steigen sie langsam die dreihundertvierundsechzig Stufen des Phou Si herunter und verkörpern dabei auf wunderbare weise die Schlangenwindungen der großen mythischen Naga: dieses Beschützers des Königreiches, der in der Höhle auf dem Gipfel des Phou Si haust. jedes Jahr kommt er hervor, um sich mit der Nagi, seiner Gattin, zu vereinen und damit das Fortbestehen des Königreiches zu sichern.
