Description
An unidentified cavish object (possible puzzle pieces: Naga, kund, griha, pahar, garh, guha, gufa, gupha) is mentioned in the tale of a »Monk in the Snake Cave« (OLDENBURG 1922 chapter 90: 276), according to which the monks Sariputta and Upasena are associated with a »Cave of the Pond near the Snake Rock« in one »Sita Forest« (unidentified) in the area of »Rajagaha« or Rajgir, Rajagriha, Rajgriha, etc. (note 1). Likewise, BECKH (1927: 80-81) is said (note 2) to mention: »Im Sitawalde in der Felsenhöhle des Schlangenteiches« (In Sita Forest, in the Rock Cave of the Snake Pool).
NOTE 1: »Rajagaha« (OLDENBURG 1922) is another version of Rajgir (Rajagriha, Rajgriha) N25°02': E085°25' (nima.mil/geonames accessed 16.11.2003). NOTE 2: I have not seen BECKH (1927: 80-81) which Manfred Moser, Regensburg (1998 personal correspondence) ointed out to me.
