Description
An unspecified cave entrance (unidentified shape, unidentified dimensions, unidentified orientation, unidentified characteristics) is said to give access to an unidentified »limestone cave« called »Krem Wah Diengrot« (Vivian Kharnaior 1998.11.02 personal communication). ETYMOLOGY: The Khasi "dieng-rot" (note 2) is an unidentified kind of a tree (perhaps a kind of oak, Quercus var.) or perhaps, a version of the "dieng rata" (botanically: Aphanamixis polystachya Wall. in Roxb. 1824). SITUATION: At an unidentified location somewhere in the vicinity of Siatbakon (note 1), a village about 15 km on the road from Pynursla (N25°18'30”: E92°54') approximately south-east towards Dauki (N25°11'10”: E92°01'20”).
NOTE 1: Siatbakon, Presbyterian Church in the village centre near (±21 m) N25°17'21": 91°56'18" (WGS84): ca. 1100 m asl. The Khasi "siat" means »to shoot, to infect« (SINGH, N 1906: 202), "bak" means »sharp, clear« (SINGH, N 1906: 6), and the verb "on" is generally used with "leit" (to go, to proceed) and means »to go along with, to reach at« (SINGH, N 1906: 146). The noun "u bakhor" is the Khasi word for »the gunpowder« (SINGH, N 1906: 6).
