Description
NOTE 1: »Cocachia-ka-Bhoira« (Cave of Cocachia Hill'S Cave) lies not on the hill itself but »… at a very considerable distance on the south-eastern side of Cocachia Dhar …« (ADYE 1917: XXI). It looks as if (1st) the whereabouts of this cave where just pointed out from the hill (or explained in relation to it), 2nd, that the cave name was improvised, and 3rd, that it was only mentioned when Adye visited –>Ghojhara-ka-Bhoira. CRAVEN (1969: 27) recorded »ADYE (1917) mentions … Ghojhara-ka- Bhoira. This … cave connects with the Cocachia-ka- Bhoira, 'a considerable distance' to the SE of [the hill called] Cocachia Dhar.«
A partly walled off cave entrance (up to 12 m wide and 1.6 m high) a the deepest point of a collapse doline gives access to a relatively wide but low chamber (18 by 7 by 1.6 m) with a more or less level floor covered with sand and small rocks. In the back of this chamber and next to a Hindu cult spot descend (-3 m) two small passages obliterated by large sized, angular collapse debris and washed-in sand. These crawls were not pushed to a conclusion. The cave must function as a sink but flow forms are absent. There are a few small secondary calcite deposits (speleothems, flowstone) on the ceiling. ETYMOLOGY: The cave name "Dolatagadh ka Bhoiru" translates as something along the lines of a »Cave on the Shining / Lucky Creek« (or so). CAVE LEGEND: No cave life was observed but one of the two crawls was said to be the home of "python" (read: dread inspiring SNAKE) or some other kind of serpent or mythical nag (naga). SITUATION: On the north-eastern rim of the village of Dolatagadh (note 1), which lies 3.2 km in a direct line south-east (128°) from Rana Bordi Railway Station (21°43'55”N: 069°49'00”E, WGS84, 4-channel GPS), and 1.2 km due east of (the hill) Cocachia Dhar (21°42'50": 069°50'00" WGS84).
