Description
An unspecified cave entrance (unidentified shape, unidentified dimensions, unidentified orientation, unidentified characteristics) is said to give access to a different cave (anonymous Brooks, S J 2012.06.23 undated Meghalaya 2012 Survey Summary Kopli.xls). IDENTITY: The cave is not Krem Yaje [note 1] (anonymous Arbenz, T et al. 2013.08.07 Mss: Diary 2012.doc). ETYMOLOGY: No autochthonous, indigenous or locally known name has been identified for what has been christened Habi Toyo Cave Arbenz, T (2013.03.16 dated ”2012.04.30” cave distribution map Pala relief13 2.pdf) Hobi Toyo Cave anonymous Arbenz, T et al. (2013.08.07 Mss: Diary 2012.doc: Friday, 10th February 2012) (not) Krem Yaje anonymous Arbenz, T et al. (2013.08.07 Mss: Diary 2012.doc: Friday, 10th February 2012). SITUATION 2012: The entrance to this cave appears to be over the downstream end of Krem Lymoh (anonymous Arbenz, T et al. 2013.08.07 Mss: Diary 2012.doc). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2012: The entrance is a steep slope finishingin a 5 m climb down. A 20 m hand line for the slope and climb would be useful but not essential. … The cave is of joint controlled rifts with mostly clean washed cobble floor. Approximately 30 m in there is a climb down to a lower level with the high level route continuing across a traverse. A couple of bolts to allow a traverses line would be sensible. Cookie explored the lower route which is a 0.4 m by 0.8 m flat out crawling passage to a fallen slab that prevents further progress after approx 25 m. The passage continues; a hammer and strong arm should remove the slab. Vijay free climbed the traverse to find another flat out crawling passage which continues. No particular drought was noted (anonymous Arbenz, T 2013.08.07 Diary 2012). TACKLE: A 20 m hand line for the slope and climb would be useful but not essential and a couple of bolts to allow a traverses line would be sensible but a violent approach to sports caving pledges for a commandment according to which a hammer and strongarm should remove the slab (anonymous Arbenz, T et al. 2013.08.07 Mss: Diary 2012.doc). CAVE CLIMATE: David -Cookie- Cooke noticed on 10th February 2012 at an unknown time the presence of no particular drought (apparently absent air current) on a Friday (anonymous Arbenz, T et al. 2013.08.07 Mss: Diary 2012.doc).in a 5 m climb down. EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2012.02.10, David 'Cookie' Cooke, Cdr. Vijay Chhikara and Khlur Mukhim alias DC, VC, KM successfully recorded the numeral 0 (zero) without any problem when they believed to have located Krem Yaje but later found out that is was a different cave (anonymous Brooks, S J 2012.06.23 undated Mss: Meghalaya 2012 Survey Summary Kopli.xls) and, of course, never came back to it. 10th Febuary 2012 (Friday) Hobi Toyo Cave - (not) Krem Yaje - Vijay, Khlur, Cookie … After a few false starts they found the cave they thought to be Krem Yaje - although by a different route as described in the 2010 record sheet. … Khlur did a quick biological survey and collected a few samples whilst Vijay and Cookie did a quick recce. … On checking the coordinates carefully it seems a schoolboy error was made and entered as degrees and decimal minutes rather than degrees, minutes and seconds [note 2] (anonymous Arbenz, T 2013.08.07 Diary 2012).
