Description
Several cave entrances are situated less than a kilometre west of the wide-spread village of Pui (note 1), which, worth to visit alone to relish it's tiny but delicious apples, lies about 5 km along a dirt track north of the Ziarat - Harnai Road. The Ograha Gat (gat = stream), on the north-northeast flank of Nagar Ghar (mountain), is a tributary from the south to the seasonal Kazha Manda (note 2). Locally the rock strata dip with an angle of approximately 25° towards 025° (ENE). Cave no.1 lies above the left (western) bank of Ograha Gat, at the bottom of an about 20 m high cliff. CAVE DESCRIPTION: An up to 3 m wide and high triangular entrance gives access to a joint controlled and 6 m long passage (2 m wide, 2.5 m high) leading into a chamber (7 m wide, 10 m high). There is a small skylight entrance (less than 0.5 m in diameter), about 8 m above the main entrance. A difficult 8 m climb on the south-western wall of the chamber (climbed by Wali Muhammad Achakzai) gives access to a tuular passage ascending at about 30° towards the south-west. An easy 8 m staircase climb in the northern corner of the -Guggenheim Museum- leads to mostly horizontal passage which gradually becomes smaller and ends after a crawl in a final micro-chamber (2 m diameter, 1 m high). CAVE LIFE: One bat (Chiroptera, indet.), mudwasp burrows and crickets were noted.ular passage ascending at about 30° towards the south-west.
