Description
Dislocated boulders obstruct the terminal end (cave entrance) of a spring of water (resurgence), which emits a significant noise of water and allows expedition cavers to start facing not only a 3x1 m passage but also a pool at the beginning complete with open continuation (Bäumler, G 2005.02.09 Mss). ETYMOLOGY: The origin, history and meaning of the Hmar (Mizo) cave name Dretkungdung Khur (Bäumler, G 2005.02.09 Mss) has not yet been identified (note 1). SITUATION: At an unexplainable location somewhere on a way from the village of Muallian, Moolian, or Mu Mullieng (25°11'49”N: 92°29'27”E: circa 795 m) approximately north-east to the cave entrance of –>Saisidung Khur (Jantschke, H 2005.02.04 Mss). APPROACH: The cave entrance was reached by taking what had been in February 2005 a certain path from Muallian [note 2] steep down in an easterly direction along the obviously best track. At the first flowing river [perhaps the Dret Kung Dung / Dretkungdung], follow the river bed upstream o the boulder strewn entrance area (Bäumler, G 2005.02.09 Mss). CAVE DESCRIPTION: Due to potentially wet water, this cave was not explored. Needs wetsuit (Bäumler, G 2005.02.09 Mss).o the boulder strewn entrance area (Bäumler, G 2005.02.09 Mss).
