Description
Several streams join the Goldang Gad and sink into a spacious river cave (note 1) that drains a catchment area in sandstone (note 2) south-west of Chibak. SITUATION: The sink lies about 20 minutes by foot from the south-eastern end of Chibak (also Nongsibak / Shibak N25°14'06-: E091°02'43- WGS84). CAVE DESCRIPTION: The united streams drop down 3 m into a dark passage (on average 9 m wide and 4 to 8 m high) with plenty of calcite formations (speleothems), including a bridge, where the stream (about 3 ltr/sec) rushes across a laquered sandstone floor to disappear some 100 m from the cave entrance under a collapse of large boulders, which rise from shallow sandy pools to heights where interstices are infilled with soil. CAVE LIFE: Many snot gobblers (larval stage of fungus gnats, Diptera: Mycetophilidae).Several streams join the Goldang Gad and sink into a spacious river cave (note 1) that drains a catchment area in sandstone (note 2) south-west of Chibak.
