McNally, D 2014.12.30 Mss: 26-02-2014 Krem Um Krung.docN25°10'38.9“: E092°16'25.0” (Arbenz, T 2015.01.11 -korrigierte Version- e-mail; Arbenz, T 2014.12.30 Mss: Des McNally 26-02-2014 Krem Muhabon.doc)A closed depression, which was understood to occur in an unidentified solid mineral material forming part of the surface of the earth, identified expedition cavers as a a sports caving device represented by pothole with water heard flowing at bottom in the shape of an estimated 2 m wide, 5 m across, ca, 8 m deep pothole (McNally, D 2014.12.30 Mss: 26-02-2014 Krem Um Krung.doc). ETYMOLOGY: The meaning and origin of the cave name for this -krang- (Lakadong Khasi), which recorded as if it were a -krem- (standard Khasi) specified by the name of a stream of water called -Um Krang- (note 1), is obscured by the fog projected when caving about the clouds (McNally, D 2014.12.30 Mss: 26-02-2014 Krem Um Krung.doc). SITUATION 2014.02.25: The only GPS position recorded in connection with Krem Um rung (WGS84 ±15 m N25°10'26.4”: E092°16'29.1”: 580 m asl) indicates a location near the southern rim of the Lakadong Plateau and a spot which lies about 1.4 km in a direct line appromimately SSE from the church in Ummat (note 2) but vertically 180 m lower down. SITUATION 2014.04.05: In a setting characterised by unspecified many exokarst features south of a populated place identified by expedition cavers as Lakadong (anonymous Brooks, S J et al. 2014.04.05 Mss: Diary Meghalaya 2014 Second Edit: 25th February, Tuesday). APPROACH modified (hdg 2015.01.12) after McNally, D (2014.12.30 Mss: 26-02-2014 Krem Um Krung.doc): In case of starting in the north-western corner of Ummat village at what had been in February 2014 the house (N25°11'11.8”: E092°16'00.2”) of Spellmoon Shilliangam (then the village headman), cross what Europeans tend to identify as a case of the footbal pitch (sic!) but, being in India, is a cricket field. Continue east to a path junction (near N25°11'05.9”: E02°16'10.3”) where a person without orientation has to turn right, then left at standing stones (unidentified GPS position) and proceed eastwards to a spring of water with a washing place or washing area (N25°11'01.3”: E092°16'23.1”). Descend from here along a path south (in case of facing east on the right) to a junction (N25°10'47.9”: E092°16'25.6”). Staying on the right hand (outch), the path crosses a more or less large limestone pinnacle breakdown with a possible cave near N25°10'38.9“: E092°16'25.0” (AA Cave McNally 2014). The path beyond the -pinnacle breakdown- proceeds south (600 m in a direct line) to the cave entrance of Krang Um Krung (N25°10'26.4”: E092°16'29.1”), which lies west or, but only if facing south, on the right, 8m below the path (note 3).
