Unexplored rock shelters and caves reports DEVASAHAYANAM (1995: 226) from the Thalaiyanai Hills (note 1) in the Sivagiri taluk (note 2) of Tirunelvely (Tirunelveli, Tinnevelly) district: »In early 1992 with the aim of collecting Palliyan tribal group's ethnographic objects for the proposed District Museum at Tirunelvely [note 3], we had been to Thalaiyanai Hills in Sivagiri taluk … we proceeded further into the dense forest and to our surprise we spotted rock shelters fully covered with bushes and creepers. We were told that such type rock shelters and even caves can be found in greater number in the interior of the dense forest.« Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 28/02/2016
