Description
A »sepulchral cave« (SHARMA, V D 1961 edited 1985), which consists of man-made, rock-cut pit that had been excavated from laterite and was used in »meghalithic time« (SHARMA, V D 1961 edited 1985) as a burial chamber, described REA (1911) from a place called »Perungulam« (SHARMA, V D 1961) or, perhaps, from Perumkulam and Peruinkulam (note 1).
NOTE 1: »Perungulam« (SHARMA, V D 1961 edited 1985) is not identified as no such place is listed on nima.mil/geonames (accessed 16.11.2003) or in IMPERIAL GAZETTEER (1907-1909, 25: 438) and the India Road Atlas (Eicher Goodearth 2006 index) — unless it corresponds to »Perumkulam« at N08°30': E077°04' (nima.mil/geonames accessed 16.11.2003) on AMS sheet NC43-16 Trivandrum (U502 series,1959 edition) and »Peruinkulam« on the India Road Atlas (Eicher Goodearth 2006: 121 E1) in Thiruvananthapuram district.
