Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018

The second of three painted rock shelters which IMAM (2001) reports from somewhere on the east-west ridge of the Satpahar massif … (note 1) is slightly removed and on the west facing slope of the hill. CULTURAL HISTORY - rock art: Here we find record of a hunter’s paradise: A string of animals from right to left - a pair of huge humped bison or gaur, a pair of nilgai or bluebull (a type of Indian antelope), a pair of tigers, the male behind accompanied by three wild boar, then a langur monkey facing a pair of hunters with bows and arrows (one hunter is shown in its stomach), a wild buffalo, and a horned rhinoceros, with some more figures of x-ray animals (IMAM 2001).The second of three painted rock shelters which IMAM (2001) reports from somewhere on the east-west ridge of the Satpahar massif … (note 1) is slightly removed and on the west facing slope of the hill.
