Description
A »rock shelter« (or cave) containing rock art is situated at a distance of 15 km along the road from one Shivpuri (note 1) to Gwalior (N26°13'25”: E078°10'45”) and is said to be reached by taking near kilometer 8 a footpath to Tunda Bharka Khoh (note 2) and proceeding for another 6 km in thick forest. JAIN (1984: 242 + plates LXXIV- LXXIX) explored in 1981 and reported a »length« or width of 24 m.
NOTE 1: Of the many places called Shivpuri is perhaps the Shivpuri at N25°26': E077°39' (about 100 km in a direct line SSW of Gwalior on AMS sheet NG43-12). NOTE 2: »Tunda Bhurka Khoh« (meaning cave / gorge of Tunda Bhurka) at 25°33': 077°40' (Everest 1830) reported PRASAD RAO et al. (1965: 130 after SRIVASTAVA 1957) in GEOLOGICAL SURVEY OF INDIA (1962 edited by ROY: General report for 1957: 44-45) in a report on economical limestone occurrences.
