Description
The cave in the Andhi Khola (note 1) is a rather small cave, almost a rock shelter, and was probably formed by gravitational decay caused by lateral fluvial erosion of the cave bearing multiple layered calcareous shale (ARITA, K., HAYASHI, D. & YOSHIDA, M. 1982a: Lower to Upper Riphean age), which dip here, on the left (northern) bank of Andhi Khola, towards to the river. SITUATION: On the trek from Kusma (N28°13': E083°41') via Karkineta (N28°11': E083°45') to that village of Naudanda (N28°08': E083°51'), which lies south of Pokhara. The cave entrance lies on the orographically left (northern) bank of Andhi Khola and in the back of a whirlpool, which I reached by walking for about half an hour (2 km or 3 km) downstream along the Andhi Khola from a place called Kakani, between Rangethanti (N28°09': E083°50') and Bichara Chautara.
NOTE 1: "andha" (Sanskrit) means »darkness; nook« in the Mahabharata and is used to say »blind« in the Rig Veda.
