MIMI CAVE

A series of five to six caves and one cave where inside it has two mouths were said to represent the so-called caves in the Kiphere area - locally called the mimi cave (Sootinck, Neil 2007.12.12 personal correspondence). SITUATION: Within Tuensang district in a certain Kiphere area (Sootinck, N 2007.12.12 Mss) or Kiphere subdivision and Kiphire Subdivision (note 1) or in the vicinity of Mimi village from the Naga Ophiolite Belt area in Kiphire District bordering Myanmar (AIER, I A 2009.07.01). APPROACH: Either Mimi, the village, or Kiphere (Kiphire) was said to lie at a travelling distance of 254 km (note 2) along roads from Kohima (N25°40': E094°07'). CAVE POTENTIAL: Neil Sootinck (2007.12.12 personal correspondence) had spoken with the present Commissioner,who attempted and probably went in for a few meters (?). He says there are a series of five to six caves and one cave where inside it has two mouths and here a B I G python has been living for a very long time (note 3).
