SITUATION (CEYLON TRAVELLER 1974, 1983: 106): From the turn off between 60th mile and 61st mile (note 2) on the road from Anuradhapura ENE to Kahatagasdigiliya (note 3), Galgirilena lies 4 miles (about 6 km) along the road without identified direction (north?) to Talakolawewa (note 4).

Brief description
Several modified, drip-ledged caves (note 1), which possibly consist of modified natural rock shelters, contain paintings (rock art) of the Kandy Period while a five-foot fragment of a Buddha torso, minus legs, lies by the cave (CEYLON TRAVELLER 1974, 1983: 106).
